You can find directions here for having your new Gmail account handle your incoming mail from Spectrum.
If when adding your email account you run into any issues click here for the spectrum server settings.
If you are unable to configure Gmail to check your spectrum email you can always opt to forward all email from spectrum to your new G-mail address, you can find directions here.
