Thank you John, very helpful. Just an update – once I move I will probably keep one of two of my gmail accounts open for other uses (actually I will probably keep both open for sometime before I shut one down), but don’t plan to use it for much anymore.
However, with that said, I did get the following response from StartMail: “Your ability to visit Youtube.com will not be affected by using StartMail. You will need a Google account to use other Google services that require a Google account.”
So it appears you do not need gmail for youtube.
