I purchased a new IPad 7th generation. Used it for amazon purchase. I got an alert from amazon saying unusual sign in attempt using a Mac OS desktop. I contacted Apple and a supervisor tech person told me the new IPads use Mac OS. ?? Is this true? I am very skeptical to say the least. I had this issue on my old IPad after going on Facebook and believing I got hacked. I had just created the new amazon account and had to sign in again to finalize my purchase when I got this email alert. Please let me know.

Jane iPads run their own iPadOS which is getting closer to macOS, but isn’t the same yet. This may change in the future as Apple changes it hardware to the same processor architecture. However the newer versions of Safari on iPads do use the same userAgent as the desktops. This userAgent is likely what Amazon sees and is reports in its alerts. Let us know if this answers your question.
