I have been searching Microsoft and everywhere online for a remedy.
The replies and posts I have found fail to fix my issue.
Winget is a terrific command line app update utility.
At an admin command line, type Winget upgrade to see available app updates, type Winget upgrade (the app.id) and presto, most apps in the list will update. Winget is an internal OS function. It is not an executable. It is missing from one of my PCs.
Have you any idea how I can remedy this?
Thank you for your help.
David
Hello David,
The winget command line tool is only supported on Windows 10 1709 (build 16299) and up.
To check your current build Press Windows key + R (win + R), and type winver and strike the enter key.
If you are running a supported build you can install winget by following the guide here.
Dear John,
Thank you for your response.
I am running Win10Pro64 22H2 build 19045.4355
Winget should work, but it is not available.
I downloaded and installed Microsoft.DesktopAppInstaller_8wekyb3d8bbwe
It is still not available.
Aside from creating a virtual machine or running in a sandbox, are there no other fixes?
This is not a critical issue, as I only use Winget to update apps.
I can open each app and have it update itself.
Perhaps it is time to just let this go?
Thanks again,
David
Hello David,
I would go over this forum thread here, I would test doing what tinonetic commented on May 8, 2021.
