  • Denied access to any external connected storage (HD, Thumbdrives, SD cards, etc)

Hello, I have searched online and have not been able to find answers to solve this issue:
About a year ago all of a sudden any USB connected type drive I cannot access the files. This also includes SD cards as well. I am running Windows 10 and I can see the connected drive but when I try to open the file(s) the first message I receive is “You don’t currently have permission to access this folder.” “Click Continue to permanently get access to this folder.”
When I click Continue I get a second alert
“You have been denied permission to access this folder.” “To gain access to this folder you will need to use the security tab.” The problem is there is no security tab.
    Any help would be appreciated

So I figured it out. I have an HP zbook G4 so it has some HP software loaded and apparently unbeknownst to me this HP security SW had set the device access manager settings to not allow JITA removables to be read or accessed.
