I am concerned about goggle’s ability to selectively monitor or direct my activities on their server. I want to fly under the radar so to speak. I feel goggle is able to dig into my life and I want some alternatives.

    Corky,

I have felt the same about Google. For privacy, you might check out Protonmail.com. They have different levels of service including a free option (500MB storage) and several subscription options with more features and additional storage. The content of Protonmail mailboxes is encripted. They cannot look at it. I’ve been using Protonmail the last few years particularly for business and financial correspondence, and I’ve been really happy with it. I subscribe to their “Protonmail Plus” level for $5 per month (5GB storage). I need more storage than the free level has.

Also, since you mentioned Google… if you want an alternative to Google as a search engine, you might try using DuckDuckGo.com for your web searches. They do not track you.

    Best wishes.
