T-Mobile Email to SMS Gateway Delays & Failures
When sending an email to a T-Mobile subscribers phone number concatenated with “@tmomail.net” (example: 1235556789@tmomail.net), the email is translated to SMS and shows up as a text message on that subscriber’s phone. I’ve used this feature for many years, and up until a year ago such texts were received on the phone within a minute after the email was received by tmomail. For the last roughly one year, the latency has been hours or even days, and in some cases the conversion fails altogether.
T-Mobile support has been no help whatsoever to resolve these latency/failure problems. My question here is, is there another service (not necessarily a cell service) available which provides this same Email‑to‑SMS Gateway? Barring that, is there a feature or app available on Android phones which can trigger the phone in some way to make a sound when an email with specific characteristics is received? I’ve been advised that Tasker can possibly do this, but I’m concerned about the privacy and security implications of installing that app on my phone.
I’d be grateful for any suggestions or advice.
