      Ron from Macomb, IL is having a heck of time getting Alexa to do his bidding.

      Here are some links to help him and everyone else out:

      Smart appliances don’t just work with Alexa right off the bat. They need to be connected to the wireless network then configured with their own smartphone app first. Thereafter they can give Alexa access to the devices app or API.

      Eg. Belkin Wemo app, for Belkin devices. or Gosund app for Gosund smart plugs, or Roku remote control for Roku devices.

      If it works with the cell phone version of Alexa it will work with the echo dot.

      Have they been configured with Alexa? Alexa uses the Roku skill.
