    My AOL accounts which I deleted and tried to re-add are unrecognizable when trying to add a new account in my iMac mail.
    In the past it asked for a password and it wouldn’t accept it. The password works when I go directly into AOL Mail. I do get my emails on my iPhone but now my iMac.
    Please, HELP!!

    Hi Sandy,

    Let’s check the settings. First, launch Mail. Go to the Mail menu and select Preferences. Click the Accounts tab in the Preferences window and choose your AOL email account from the left panel. Go to the Account Information tab and check your AOL email address for any errors. To make a correction, select the Email Address drop-down arrow and choose Edit Email Address. Double-click either your full name or email address, edit the information and then select OK.

    Now, Go to the Mail menu and select Preferences. Select the Accounts tab and choose the AOL email account you are having problems with from the left panel. Click the Server Settings tab. Confirm that the Outgoing Mail Account drop-down menu is set to the AOL server. If not, select AOL in the drop-down menu.

    Hi Kim,
    Thanks for responding to my problem. I am not able to do what you recommended since I already deleted my AOL accounts on my iMac. When I tried to add a new account and put in the removed email address with my password I get a pop up that says “Unable to verify account name and password.” The email address and password work fine when I go to AOL.com/Mail online and log on there. Any other suggestions? Thanks, Sandy

    Hi Sandy,

    Before I dig deeper, please go to the AOL web site, access your account, and turn 2 Step Verification off to see if that helps.

    Hi Kim,
    Still trying to work on it. I’ve been locked out of my account and have to wait to try to get it set up and working
    Having trouble getting it to accept the generated password using 2 factor authorization.

    Hi Kim,
    It’s finally working. I’m now able to send and receive my emails for my AOL accounts on my iMac. Now do I need to do the same thing on my iPad as well? Thank you so much for your help.
