Mom has hearing problems. Doctor tells her only to get expensive $5000 hearing aid. Mom wants cheaper. I heard there was a company that makes a program that lets a person use their smart phone connected to an ear bud as a hearing aid.

Do you know the brand. Can you also recommend a hearing aid brand?

Alternatively after some research I have found the Resound Quattro which is half the cost the Doctor quoted and the Phonak Marvel which is even cheaper to have been getting great reviews online.

Depending on what phone she uses IOS or Android, I can make a better recommendation if you let me know.

Hello,

For best performance you will want to upgrade that 6 year old phone as it features Bluetooth 4.0, you will want a phone with Bluetooth version 4.2 so you do not run into any compatibility issues.

If she sticks with using an Android phone I recommend the Phonak Marvel.
