My husband and I use Bitdefender Total Security for our computers. We are considering getting the Bitdefender Box2 or 3 as a home security hub because we’re very concerned about cyber criminals. We are retired and not as tech savvy as we were as youngsters! I’ve read many different opinions on its usefulness and am completely confused as to whether we should spend the money or just forget it. Would love some advice.
Morey, devices like BitDefender box can be a good addition to securing your home network. In looking I did not see the Box 3 being available so I will base it on the Box 2.
If you are running quite a few wireless IoT devices and tablets/phones not running an A/V, the additional security features of the Box 2 will help protect those devices. If you are just using computers already protected by Total Security, and follow best practices, you will likely not see a big benefit. If you would like to reply back with what kind of devices you are running at home, we would love to help you look into this in more detail.
Thank you for your reply. I am not sure what items are considered loT so forgive me if I list too many items we have. We have the following:
Smart TV
Roku TV
2 computers
1 iPad
2 Kindle Fire tablets
3 Amazon Dots + several smart plugs
several wireless speakers
2 cell phones both of which have myQ app to open garage door
In this case I would recommend the Box 2 as an extra layer of protection, as it looks like most of devices are wireless and considered IoT. It looks like the box is setup over a mobile app and has well documented setup instructions. Let us know if we can help with anything else!
