I had 3 Cumulative Updates for Windows 10. 2 installed with no problem. The 3rd ( 2020-06 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1909 for x64-based Systems (KB4560960) – Error 0x80073701 ) has failed 6 times. What to do?
Make sure you have at least 20GB of free space on your C:\ if you do not have enough free space this could cause the update to fail.
It would seem the Windows Operating system is Damaged, however we may need to determine what caused the damage to begin with.
Now you will want to test your hard disk drive for errors, you can find direction here –
Then you will want to check the integrity of Windows system files, by doing the following.
Opening command prompt as administrator
1. Type command prompt in the search box of Windows 10.
2. Right click the icon and choose run as administrator.
Running the integrity check
1. type the command sfc /scannow and press enter.
2. let the check run until it says it has made repairs or verification 100% complete or it throws an error.
If that throws errors then you could either continue down the repairing windows rabbit hole here and here or perform a fresh install with the latest version of 1909 by following this guide here while ignoring the Windows 7 portion.
