I want to donate my old Windows 10 computer to a young family at my church with several small children. I have reset it to factory defaults, but it wants me to sign in with my Microsoft account. Do I just turn it off at this point and give it to them to sign in with the parents’ account? Is factory reset enough?

Additionally, if I proceed to use “Eraser,” won’t it wipe out the Windows 10 platform that might be helpful to the family?

    Hello Kaci Capurro,

To wipe a Windows 10 PC for sale, go to Start > Settings > Update & Security > Recovery > Reset this PC > Get Started and choose the “Remove everything” option.

That’s a quick way, the best way is to completely wipe your Hard Disk Drive or Solid State Drive using a tool such as BitRasor.

Then create new Windows 10 Installation media with a blank USB drive, and install windows. Plese note you may want to create the Windows 10 USB installation media first if you do not have a second computer to create it with.
