In have a 2017 MacBook Pro with 4 Thunderbolt 3 ports. In trying to ‘broadcast’ the worship services for the little church of which I am pastor, I have determined that I could really use an external microphone, and not just the one built into the computer itself. But there is no microphone port such as was on my previous Mac. Can somebody tell me (1) if it’s even possible to do such a thing; (2) if so, how to do it; and (3) what equipment I would need to do so?

    Thanks for your help.

    Hello,

You are looking for something like https://amzn.to/2V98FUN which will provide phantom power to your studio microphone. It’s a neat device that can be used with IOS, Android, Mac or PC and it travels well.

Alternatively if you are not using a microphone that requires phantom power, you could use something like https://amzn.to/2XEwgyl that give you the ability to use headphones and a microphone on your USB type C port.
