I’m curious about the best practice in this situation. My wife and I each have pixel phones and take far too many photos and videos. We recently paid a few dollars a month to get more storage on Google since I heard videos are not backed up with the “free Photo” storage. We are lucky that since we are Pixel owners we will still get free photo storage.

If we do this, will we be able to view and play the videos from Google photos, or are they simply backed up?

We also have many old photos on our old windows pc. I did set up back up and synch from Google on that computer. Will this service find the old videos on that computer’s hard drive and copy them to Google?

Thank you to Kim, her staff, and listeners.

I have done this and videos on my phone were backed up to Photos and playable from Photos online. For Back up and Sync you can ensure the videos are backed up by going to preferences and selecting the folder with your videos and marking it to backup.
