Is it true that icloud only keeps my stuff for 30 days? My hard drive went kaflooie and I need some documents and files from a few years ago that I thought were backed up on the cloud. Is there any way I can get them back?

    Hello Carol Weser,

You should be able to check on your iCloud backups by visiting icloud.com and logging in with your iCloud account.

Alternatively, you could plug in an USB-C SSD drive big enough for re installing your MacOS, once installed you might be able to browse the primary disk that failed you. This is a longshot but it might work out in your case.

    I hope this helps.

thank you so much for responding. I found that on icloud drive and also on time machine, I could go no further back than 1 month.
what is the point of having 2TB of icloud when all that is accessible is recent.
I really do need to retrieve my file from 6 months ago.
I confess that I was an idiot and deleted “files” from my iphone not knowing that it would also delete much from my imac. But despite my stupidity, I do need to retrieve that older info. No hard drive from then, alas. HelpD!
