Does anyone else have a concern with using Lenovo products due to Lenovo being owned by the Chinese Government and the Chinese Government requiring their technology companies to cooperate with Chinese Intelligent Services?
(Washington Times – “The contracts for China-based Lexmark and Lenovo permit the companies to send data and information they receive from state and local government work to China under a 2017 law requiring all companies to cooperate with Beijing’s intelligence services, including granting access to the data the companies collect overseas, the report said.”)

      Hello Ken,

I believe the only concern is for using the software that comes pre installed from the manufacturer, the end-user always has the option to wipe the disk and install a clean version of Windows 10. Thus killing off any software that may report home. I recommend anyone with a new computer performs a clean install of Windows 10.

      John,
      Thanks for the information.
Unfortunately, I don’t think you can do the same thing with a tablet. Can you?

      Hello Ken,

You are correct however, given enough time any Android tablet can be rooted and re rom’d, rom being the operating system, rooting meaning having root access and the ability to load a different operating system.

      John,
Got 2 issues that I’m struggling with regarding Lenovo. First is the security (or lack thereof) where the Chinese Government could spy. Yeah, I know all these other manufactures and apps all spy on us to a certain extent. Secondly, there is the part that Lenovo is owned by the Chinese government. You just have to follow it up the money line. Chinese Government funding the company that formed Lenovo.
Amazon has the Lenovo Tab M10 Plus, 10.3″ FHD Android Tablet, Octa-Core Processor, 64GB Storage, 4GB RAM for $17o.
Lenovo’s website this weekend had the same tablet for $150.
Seemed like a nice deal for what you get. I know it’s not the top of line processor that would be in a Samsung or Apple.
      Thanks for all your input.
      Ken
