      Hey, there:

First time to seek help here. During the day today, my Chrome running on my MacBOok Pro suddenly started acting as if it were newly installed. Welcome messages, setup prompts, etc. Nothing horrible, except now a couple of year’s worth of bookmarks seem to be gone. Am I just out of luck? Is there a way to recover them? Thanks for any. help!

      Hello Alec harvey,

I would click on the circular icon in the top right of google chrome see if there are any other profiles available.

If you previously saw an image in the corner, good news! all you will need to do is sign back into your Google account to restore your bookmarks.

Tap or click here to learn more about Google Chrome profile usage.

On a Mac, you can click on Go > Go to folder. Then paste the following to check for additional existing chrome profiles.

      ~/Library/Application Support/Google/Chrome

I believe Apple-Shift-B will open your bookmark bar if it is hidden.

Thank you! It does have to do with the profiles, though my main profile — the one with my face on it — is the one that has lost all the bookmarks, passwords, etc. I clicked on the “Person 1” profile, though, and all of that was there. I’m just glad to have found it, though it’s odd my main profile has lost all of it.
