OK, please no ridicule please….we have a 2006 Dell XPS laptop, top of the line at that time. I tried to upgrade it to Windows 10 but it almost goes into hibernation after each key stroke. It is a beautiful piece of equipment bright red chasis, 17″ screen with a DVD /- . Can I do anything useful to make it serve a purpose? For example, could it be converted to a MAC? I just hate to discard it or sell it for salvage but the old operating system was obsolete and we have been using desktop towers for the last 2-3 home computers and recently (2-3) years my wife uses a Surface pro. I am open to your suggestions and ideas I just don’t know how to make it useful. Here are the specs on the machine: Dell XPS Laptop 8700 (2006)

    System: MX6061

    Processor: Intel (R) Duo Processor

    Clock Speed 2.33 Ghz

    Memory 2048 Mb

    Memory Tech: DDR2 SDRAM

    Hard drive 160GB HDD

    Fixed Bay: DVD+/- RW

    Video Memory 512 Mb

    17″ Wide VXGA

    Wireless WiFi

Had Windows XP before I installed Windows 10 (Youtube, NO activation key code)

    Any help/suggestions/comments welcomed.

    Hello John Madden,

That is a bit of an older laptop, it might even be a 32-bit processor. Tap or click here for Linux operating systems that would run on your older machine.
