  • Microsoft deleted my main email

I got a new computer because my old one didn’t meet the requirements for windows 11. I wanted to keep the old one in the kitchen for my wife to use for recipes and I-tunes. I created a new user on it using my email address because was asleep and couldn’t respond to the MFA. When I changed it over to her email address and removed mine, my main email account got deleted from microsofts servers and their support says it cannot be recovered. I now have to set up my new email address on several hundred websites, all my bank accounts, and change my email address with all of my contacts.

My outlook account is synced to my old (deleted) email address. If I sync to my new email address before getting my contacts in the new account, will I lose all of them too? I have 1500+- contacts of which about 800 are probably worth keeping so I wanted to make a little lemonade out of this mess and purge the garbage before transferring them to the new email address.

    Hello David,

I would take that computer running outlook offline and make a backup first.
Second, you should be able to re-activate your account within 60 days of closing it out.

Tap or click here for more info regarding Microsoft accounts and how to re-activate a closed account within 60 days of closure.

I am at a loss at how the account was closed when deleting a profile on a Windows computer. If you can lend any more insight I would like to try to recreate this scenario.

Thanks for the suggestions but microsoft’s support says because it was an alias at the time it was removed there is nothing they can (want to) do. I’ve spent 4 days picking up the pieces from this. Now I will have to buy new licenses for my microsoft products to use them because when I try to sign in with the old account it doesn’t exist and when I try to use it with the new account it says it’s already activated by another user (my old email address).
