Having an issue with my tv and a dvd player. The tv and a soundbar are connected via hdmi into arc ports. No issue with audio from the tv. But when I connect the dvd player via an hdmi cable to a hdmi port on the tv, I get video but no audio from the soundbar. Any suggestions on how to fix this?

      Hello tnt92fox,

Please let me know what the make and model of the TV and DVD player are, most tv’s I have seen have only one ARC port. This is where the soundbar should be connected.

I would also like to confirm you do not have an optical cable in the mix.

With the soundbar plugged into the arc port on the tv, the tv should then be configured to use ARC for audio output.

Are you currently getting your regular TV programming to come out of the soundbar?

Please let me know if there are any other cables connecting devices together that you may have not mentioned.

Yes, the tv audio comes from the soundbar. The only issue is the dvd and no audio from the soundbar.
The tv is a Vizio PQX65, the dvd is a DVP-SR510H, and the soundbar is a HT-CT370. No optical cable in the mix.
I am able to get video and audio from the dvd and the soundbar, but have to connect the dvd via hdmi to the soundbar. That entails using the soundbar remote. I’d like to be able to use the tv remote to get the dvd video and audio.

I would make sure the soundbar is plugged into HDMI 1 Arc port on the TV then confirm the DVD player plugged into HDMI 2 port on the TV.

Do you have any other devices aside from the TV and The DVD player that you could run a test with to see if the audio is leaving the device > into the TV on HDMI 3 > sound outputting to the Soundbar.

If you find you get the same result, then your best bet would be to connect the soundbar to the TV via the Optical cable that came with the soundbar. Then going into TV audio settings and set the audio output to optical.

Doing so will allow you to control the Audio via the TV remote control, then every device you plug into the TV would route audio to the soundbar via optical cable.

Sometimes there are many variables such as making sure you are using High-speed HDMI cables throughout the entire setup. Switching over to Optical will eliminate these variables.

Thanks for your reply. I found that changing one setting on my tv menu resolved my problem: I changed the audio from on to auto.
