I have been using Edge. (the new vers) I like it as well as Chrome When I turned on my computer this morning the pages I usually open from task bar opened minimized. Easy fix. It stays fixed. But then the bars were missing at top of page. [title bar, faves bar, search bar ]I figured out to go to settings and a drop down showed with option to [ open with microsoft edge ] First time for this to happen. I clicked on that option and that fixed the problem but, it doesn’t stay fixed. When I x out on the page I have to do it over again. When I click on the Edge icon in task bar it opens normal. Youtube and 2 icons for radio stations open normal, but 9 other often used websites from task bar don’t. I have to go to settings each time to tell it to open in microsoft edge. So I wonder about this problem being connected with the fact there was the update? Thank you Thank you for help with this.
Such a strange issue, are you experiencing any other oddities? I would open up Program’s and features and completely uninstall Edge, reboot your computer, double check for windows updates then re install the application as an administrator.
Be sure to export any favorites before uninstalling.

Thank you John. Yes I installed Edge again. Until the newest version was released I was using Chrome. It seems there is an issue with everything on our computers. There is one (so called computer help website) I have signed up for since 2005. I posed this question there and one of the moderators didn’t want to be bothered with really helping me fix the problem.. His answer was go use a different browser. I keep playing with different ways to discover what the problem is. Here is what I discovered; This morning if I go to the shortcuts with the same webpage from task bar and open from favorites bar from the Edge browser home page they open normal I like task bar shortcuts because I can click on them separately from the task bar and have 3 different pages open. If I click on them from the faves bar you leave the starting page as we know. I guess I’ll just have to work around it. Otherwise I have no other problems with how the computer is running.
It really sounds like you may have two different versions of Edge installed, you can confirm this from programs and settings. If you uninstall the application then the icon on your toolbar should have disappeared. Uninstall all versions of edge and if you still have that icon on your toolbar, try clicking it and see what happens.
The two different versions are outlined in the following article, did you receive the new version from windows update or did you install it yourself? Either way I believe if you follow this guide to the letter, reboot and manually install then you will have sorted out the issue.
