Is adobe acrobat reader free version safe to download on PC?

Hello pegjanssen,
Yes the software is safe, however be aware of the download page’s drive by install software, where if you do not uncheck “Yes, install the Free McAfee security scan plus” on the download page here. Then it will also install McAfee Security Scan Plus software.

It is safe to download if you download it from the official Adobe website at https://get.adobe.com/reader/.
Note: There are couple of checkboxes for including McAfee virus protection software, as well as a checkbox for the Adobe Chrome extension. Unless you want these additional items, you will need to uncheck those boxes.
