My Norton ‘basic’ edition says I have the following performance issues:
15869 unnecessary files & applications, 689 Broken Registries,
15 App’s that slow me down, 5+GB system junk, and
‘void’ Broken Shortcuts. Norton would like me to upgrade to some
package that has a monthly fee to fix these.

Programs that attempted to fix these types of problems in the past
unsually put them back if you quit paying for the software, so I
do not want to upgrade Norton. May drop it soon anyway.

    My question: Is there a package I can buy/download for a one-time
fix for these problems that will not require a monthly subscription?

    Hello Mike,

I recommend using CCleaner, the free version will do most of what you described without having to pay for it.

John, unless I’m doing something wrong, it seems the free version of CCleaner will not update windows drivers but will identify drivers it detects are newer than what’s installed. I’m finding if I go to HP’s Support site for my Elitebook laptop it doesn’t offer the newest driver version that CCleaner says it should be upgraded to. Your thoughts?
