New house, new internet service provider, (Spectrum) I want to choose a new router quickly and end the monthly rental fee. Spectrum’s router is Wireless Wave 2 RAC2V1A, it works fine, what specs/brand do I need to worry about to insure I have as good as if not better out of a new router…thank you for your advice.
Thanks for posting in the forums, to better assist you I will need a bit of information. Will you be needing to hardwire any devices or are you running everything off of wireless. If you do need to hardwire some devices, how many ports will you need available?
Just a Cat 5 from Modem to the router I want to replace. All other devices receive signal wirelessly although I would want to have, say, 4 Cat5 ports in the event I want to hardwire something.
Your best bet would be to replace the router with an Eero wireless mesh device, you will hardwire this to your modem. If you want to have the ability to use more ethernet ports you will need a small 5 port switch, you can see some Eero configurations here.
