Since My Mid 2010 Macbook Pro Laptop with MacOS Sierra 10.12.6 only has 40 GB of the total 500 GB left which new Solid State Drive would You recommend? I would like a reliable 1TB drive. I have been very please with the Samsung SSD 860 EVO. Now the question is are there any other Solid State Drives I should consider, or should I stick to Samsung drives?

    Thanks!

    Hello Robert,

It looks like the Samsung 860 Would be the fastest SATAII disk you can use, you can tap or click here for some software that can clone your existing OS over to the larger 1TB disk. Otherwise, you could run a time machine backup and perform a clean install of your OS then restore from your backup.

    Hi John:

Thank You for taking the time to respond in the concise and intelligent manner that Samsung for reasons I do not understand still has trouble with.
Since I’m buying not only a new hard drive, but one twice the size I’ve been using I wanted to see if I could upgrade from the 860 EVO I’ve been using. Your response confirms that due to software compatibility issues I can’t. The 860 is the best I can do.

    I bought new 860 EVO 1 TB.

    Thanks again.

    Sincerely,

    Rob-LA
