Doing Boat/Bike road bike trip in the Netherlands-in 3 weeks. Have unlocked iPhone 13 Pro on Verizon Network. Will have WiFi access on boat at nights. Need to have data access for GPS routing during day on the bike. Verizon International Plan is not reasonable. Is it best to enroll in a plan before I depart (recommendation) or purchase a local network plan in the Netherlands. I recently saw a plan for an eSIM package. Confused on the best way to go. A few years back I was in Iceland and was able to obtain a plan that allowed access to wifi that cover the entire Country – worked great.
Appreciate any advice anyone can offer so I don’t make a mistake and end up with a outlandish bill!!!!
Hello Neal,
The most simplistic solution is the $10.00 a-day play from Verizon if you want to use your current phone number while traveling.
Due to the phone being from Verizon, they may very well not unlock it for you to use a foreign carrier’s service.
You could opt to get a cheap Google Fi compatible phone, or maybe borrow a friend’s spare unlocked phone and one month of service.
Thank you. Actually, I just learned my Verizon Plan provides me with 12 Travel Passes per year using my already selected talk/minutes/data plan.
