Gary from Columbia, Missouri is a treasurer for Trail Life USA. To process electronic payments for events and dues, he set up a Square account.

There’s just one problem: He can’t figure out the best way to keep track of payments. That’s why Gary asked me if he can require the customer to fill out information before they pay. He’s hoping that parents will enter their child’s name into the payment system so he can know who paid for what.

I had good news for Gary: With Square, you can add notes to items or custom amounts at the time of sale. Tap or click here to set up notes on payments and item descriptions.

On top of that, Square also offers Invoicing. Basically, this means that you can add notes to an invoice to better keep track of everything. Here’s how to send Square invoices online.
