Our Children’s Museum has an exhibit that plays various animal sounds when buttons are pressed. This exhibit has been in place 10+ years. The computer is now shutting down periodically so I’ve been asked to resolve this issue. The system is very old and I’m wondering if instead of trying to make old software work on a newer computer there might be a much simpler, more modern approach we can use to activate and play these sounds. This is our set up:

The computer tower is an AMD Sempron 1.72 ghz, 192mb ram.

The OS is Microsoft Windows XP Professional Version 2002, Service Pack 2

The program being used to play these 8 creature sounds is MultiWave.

There are two cables running from the exhibit’s sound buttons into/out of the computer. One is outputting speaker sounds the other other is plugged into the keyboard outlet (PS/2 – is what google image tells me it is. 🙂

Might there be a more updated software that will work with a more updated computer or is there a possible work around to this ancient set up? I’ve tried transferring Multiwave to a newer computer but as you might imagine that was a bust.

Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge!
