There are 6 adults going to Ireland and we would like to use our cell phones while traveling. I have read a little bit about esims and wonder has anyone ever used an esim and how was it? Easy enough for the tech. challenged? Also how about buying a sim card off of Amazon? What should we look for, how many GBS, etc. I am the chief planner and I am trying to get info. for all. We leave end of Sept. HELP and suggestions please

    Hello OLDWESTBUFF,

First I would check with your current cell service provider to see if they have an international plan you can temporarily activate.

If you want to pick up a SIM card while in Ireland, your phone must be unlocked and not bound to your carrier. Visit http://www.airalo.com to purchase an international SIM card. Using an international SIM card will give you a new phone number to use while visiting.

Our service provider is Verizon (1-iPhone and 1-Android). They provide 24-hour blocks per line.
I purchased an esim last year that I used through the British Isles. They are limited geographically, number of Gig and time limits (weeks, months). I used Samsung Breeze (purchased online). It was difficult to configure. I would not recommend Amazon.
I tried to connect with Kim, but was too close to our departure. I am anxious to see more info on esims, as we are going to Europe in October !!
