  • Using older DVD’s

I had VHS series of now hard to find shows (or very expensive). When I knew VHS was going the way of the Dodo bird, I transferred those tapes, via my computer, to DVD’s. That was quite a few years back (over 10). Since then I’ve bought a newer DVD player and I find these DVD’s will not play. They show “disc error “. Is there a solution?

    Hello Karl S.

It may be possible you did not finalize the discs, what do you see when you put one into a computer DVD-ROM drive?

Wow, I can’t believe I missed this reply. Sorry. It usually reads and reads then says “no disc”. I read about different formats and players can read only certain formats. I’m almost sure I finalized them. Is there a way to read what format they are ? Is there a way to save as another format?

Oh, the last time I tried it on a PC it said I needed powershell but I couldn’t install it, but it was an old laptop. I will Ave to purchase an external DVD player as my newer laptops don’t have a DVD drive internally.
