At this point, I get so many scam and phishing texts, I don’t even respond to organizations, with which I have a relationship. I got a text about a medical bill for a physician. I haven’t seen him for several months. It seems strange that 6 months, or so after a visit, there is still a bill. So, instead of answering by text, I went to the patient portal and left a message. I don’t trust many messages, anymore. For example, I got a text with (supposedly) DirecTv messages telling me I am eligible for huge discounts. I called, and found it was bogus.

Thank you for responding to my post. Your advise makes sense with so many fraudulent activities today. Going directly to the the company’s support department eliminates the guess work.
