I am running windows 7 as of 8-10-2020. I have windows security essentials that continue to scan and protect every day. I know updates ended earlier this year. Do you recommend making the transition to 10 and your opinion, please

      Hi Larry,

You should definitely be upgrading to Windows 10 if you have this computer connected to the internet. It is not well known fact, you are able to still activate Windows 10 using your Windows 7 license key. If you are using this computer exclusively offline for other reasons such as running a 3D printer or programming a Ham radio then there is nothing to worry about.

You can find a great article here regarding how.

Thanks for that john. Are you saying that I can upgrade my own pc just by using windows 7 license key? is there a cost? where do I find the 7 license key?
What about the offline comment? I use my pc mostly online

      Hello Larry,

You can upgrade your own PC using a Windows 7 license key. If you perform an in place upgrade following this guide here, it should not even ask you for the key. However you can use Magic Jelly Bean Keyfinder to recover you windows 7 key if it is not printed on a sticker attached to you laptop or desktop. Please note sometimes the key was placed under the battery in a laptop if it was removable.

Please note that Magic Jellybean Key finder will be flagged as a virus / malware so you will have to disable your antivirus temporarily so it does not automatically delete the program.

Let us know how it goes!
