I am a procrastinator who can’t spell! I have a machine that I count on use a lot for independent work. I run Windows 8 and I know it is not supported anymore. How do I know if my machine can handle a more recent version of Windows 10 or 11? How do I do this transition without risk of “losing everything” (saved files, emails etc)? Please and Thank you!

    Hello John,

What is the make and model of your laptop, if you have at least 8GB of ram and your hard drive or SSD passes the test using software from HDTUNE.com I think you would be fine upgrading to Windows 10. I doubt you can do Windows 11 using a windows 8 computer.

Thank you, it is a desktop, I will check those specs you provided as soon as I get back to it.
