Word and Excel Files transferred from a PC to a Mac
I will soon purchase a Mac Mini computer. I have many MS Word and MS Excel files created on a Windows PC. Please tell me how to transfer these files to the new Mac so that they can be read. The version of the Word and Excel files is calendar year 2016. Thanks.

I haven’t had problems with my word files — no matter how old, but excel files that I have that were created by my accountant on a PC come up “read-only”. What did you find happened [I assume you have a MAC by now]
