  • Printers not working with Spectrum

We have 2 printers at our home:
Epson Workforce Pro WF-3820, connected to an older 64-bit Vostro 220 with Windows 10 Pro (updated) – via a blue ethernet cable
HP OfficeJet Pro 8025e, connected to a newer 64-bit Dell Inspiron 3910 with Windows 11 (updated) – via WiFi

An earlier HP printer consistently worked fine on the Vostro when we had Verizon, but then we changed to Spectrum due to pricing and poor Verizon internet reception at our rural location. Not going back to Verizon, as we are semi-retired.

After switching to Spectrum, both current setups worked initially, but then both stopped working after a couple of weeks, and we can only sporadically print from the HP printer. I have repeatedly re-installed related software for both and re-configured(?) the WiFi and re-connected the ethernet cable numerous times.

My wife found an article that says Spectrum does not provide a good working relationship for printing, although our internet for both computers works just fine.

I believe it’s Spectrum causing the problems.

I there a workaround I’m not aware of?

    Thanks!

I forgot to add that my wife can print from her iPhone.

Just connected an A/B USB cable, was able to print a test page, but nothing else…

    Hello? Anybody out there?

    Hello, Thom & Joanna Deane.

Your best bet is to unplug the printers power cables, and uninstall the HP printer software along with the Epson printer software on both computers. Now reboot your computers and make sure they are both up to date.

Make sure both your computers and printers are on the same wireless network or if your PC’s are on a hardwire connection make sure your printers are on your primary wireless network and not a guest network.

Download your printer’s drivers. & install them, if there is any issue with the software install and finding the printer then something is wrong with your network.

Thanks, I got both systems to work.

    Now, another question:

I have not used the Epson Workforce Pro WF-3820 for a couple of years and decided to now use it. Ink levels indicate that the black/cyan/yellow cartridges have ink, but the magenta is empty.

However, I can’t even print in black nor greyscale, in that when I try to print it states that I need to replace the magenta.

REALLY? I need all four cartridges to have ink in them only to print in black or greyscale? My prior HPs would let me print if one or more of the colors are empty.

Being retired, I don’t want to by a 3-pack of Epson color cartridges only to find out that the printer does not work.

    I there a workaround?

    Thanks!
