Plaster walls typically have wire mesh in them, which can cause interference or block WiFi signals. If the electrical system has been updated with newer wiring, you can look into wireless powerline adapters which extend your network through the power lines. If the wiring is older, setting up a mesh network or adding WiFi extenders is your best bet.
