The only issue you may face is needing an adapter for the power, and to be sure you set the device location correctly then make sure they are using a UK Amazon account. There seems to be no clear answer on using Alexa calling between Country’s however you should be able to utilize Skype for calling each other.
Also please take a look here at some restrictions you may encounter.
