  • Unable to update apps.

I have a Motorola Z2 Force Android 9 phone. I have always manually updated about 18 apps as the updates became available. However, for about 2 months now none of the updates work. The pending spin around the icon does not stop. The first week this started I cleared the cache of each icon and the update worked. But, that doesn’t help now. I have 23 GB unused space. Does anyone know how to fix this?

    Hello carob,

Have you cleared the cache for google play?

Clear cache & data from Google Play Services
    Open your device’s Settings app.
Tap Apps & notifications. App info or See all apps.
    Tap Google Play Services.
    Tap Storage. Clear cache.
Tap Clear storage Clear all data. OK.

Is there any danger that my phone would shut down by doing this? I don’t have access to another phone until tomorrow. If there’s any risk, then I will wait until tomorrow before trying this.

    Hi, John –
I did all you said except “clear the storage data”. I was afraid of losing irreplaceable files. So, of course the problem remained. However, after connecting to a WiFi, I was again able to update all of the Apps. And, I have been thankful that I followed Kim Komando’s advice to purchase Express VPN and iDrive. That kept me somewhat sane. And, I do appreciate your efforts on my behalf, John. Thank you.
