I recently removed my USB drive from my win10 computer too early, which scrambled the drive. Windows popped up that it could fix it, so it ran chkdsk. The drive then showed no visible files, yet wad 80% full. I changed the attributes to show the files-I have a couple of hundred chkdsk files that I cannot open. Is there a way I can get these files back?

    Hello Mark,

If nothing is showing up after running a chkdsk, then you might want to attempt data recovery using software, I recommend Easeus data recovery software, it will only recover up to 500MB of data for free, it will show all recoverable data and may be worth paying for the license if it shows all of your data as recoverable.

Let us know how it goes.

Lastly, if it is data you absolutely cannot lose, I recommend professional data recovery. You can tap or click here for my recommendation.

thank you for your recommendations. I tried Easeus, but there is a fee for any recover of files. Is there a free recovery option for Easeus that I missed?
I think (hope?) I have them all backed up, but it is hard to tell.
