I have an old projector with only VGA and S-video inputs. I have a new laptop with HDMI and USB connections only. There are tons of different HDMI to VGA cables and adapters out there. Can anyone tell me which one I should buy?

We have a solution for you, first you will need this HDMI to VGA adapter
What are you planning for audio out? what kind of HDMI device are you using?

The laptop has an audio jack. It will be my laptop plugged into the projector to mirror the laptop screen. Will that work?

    Hey Karl,

    Yes, that will work.

Using the laptop is perfect in this scenario because you can use the laptop to route your audio anywhere you like such as Bluetooth, the headphone jack, or even 5.1 surround sound using a DAC like this one here.
