Ron from Sioux City, Iowa wants to stay safe in case he’s ever stuck in a ravine or creek where he works. He asked if there are any apps for his phone that would sound an alarm or throw up some flashing lights so people can find him.

      I told him to check out the SPOT Gen4 satellite GPS messenger.

      This pocket-sized device gives you a critical line of communication when you’ve wandered into areas without reliable cell service. In case of emergency, you can press a button to send your GPS location to emergency responders. Just snap it onto your backpack or belt and you’re good to go.
