Hello. I read the article about saving text messages for an android phone and installed the SMS Backup and Restore app. However, I will not give my permission for an app to access my contacts, call logs, etc. All I want to do is save a text message. I called T-Mobile and was told I would have to use a third-party app. Is anyone aware of an app that is safe and does not require granting permissions that I don’t want to grant? Thanks for listening.

    Hello Arlen,

You could always screenshot your text messages, or even use iDrive to backup your SMS messages.

For any app to backup your SMS you generally need to give it permission to at least the contacts so it can correlate names with messages.

Use iDrive to backup Android SMS
