I am looking for the old-fashioned file explore.
I have no interest in Quick Access.
I have no interest in “This PC”
Is there a simple alternative to File Explorer, or are there settings I can make in File Explorer to get the TREE, ONLY THE TREE, NOTHING BUT THE TREE.
i.e.
Windows (C)
DATA (D) (or whatever name is assigned to D)
RECOVERY (E) (or whatever name is attached to E)
etc.
And then, when I click on the (D) or whatever, I get a straightforward tree under it.
I don’t want all of the other stuff.
The first and only thing I want to see when I open File Explorer (or a replacement) is the letters and their names of my connected drives, NOTHING ELSE.
There are a few things you can do to get the look and feel of the old file explorer back.
First, make file explorer open to This PC by default instead of Quick Access.
In Windows 10, open a new File Explorer window and click the View tab from the ribbon toolbar.
In the View tab, find and click on Options, listed by default on the far right side of the ribbon.
In the Folder Options window, find the drop-down box at the top labeled “Open File Explorer To”. Click the drop-down menu and select “This PC”.
Click Apply.
If you click the View tab, you can adjust other settings here. If you make further changes click Apply and then OK to close.
