Replacing my Canon MX880 all-purpose printer and want to know if there’s any stored memory that needs to be wiped. It has been used only for print, copy, scan – no FAX. Have not used memory card or flash drive. Google and the owner’s manual aren’t turning up answers I can follow – but over about 10 years of using it, I’ve scanned and printed copies of things I don’t want to fall into the wrong hands – like ID cards and credit cards. — Barbara

    Hello Arkytype,

That model of printer does not seem to have any internal storage, so as long as your sure there are not media cards plugged in then you should be fine to get rid of it. If you would like to perform a factory reset so none of your previous network information is stored on the device then follow this guide here.

    Hi Arkytype,

You are so smart to think of this. Thank you!

Thanks, Kim and John. I have reset using the guide John sent the link for, and now I can bring the new printer in and set it up.
Kim, I didn’t feel smart having to ask, but I remember when a state agency sold their used printers without realizing the memory of everything they’d printed was stored on them.
