Sorry to hear things have changed after an update, it sounds like your have an older monitor that is not widescreen. Please confirm you are using a square monitor and not one with a rectangular shape.
The model number you provided is for an adapter that converts Display Port to VGA, you may very well only need to go into you settings to change your resolution to one that is for a 4:3 aspect ration such as 4:3 aspect ratio resolutions: 640×480, 800×600, 960×720, 1024×768, 1280×960, 1400×1050, 1440×1080 , 1600×1200, depending on what your monitor supports.
