I have an HP Windows 10 Intel i5 quad core, version 21H2 PC with 8 GB RAM and 1.5 TB HHD. Currently I’ve used only six percent of my 13 yr old PC. I perform regular cleaning, including defrag. I noticed that recently the paging file showed up during my defrag process which creates 9% remaining files to be defragged but the system doesn’t allow it, whereas before the paging file didn’t show in the system. I believe that the system automatically restored the paging file as a result of an update, or whatever, because I didn’t make any changes. My question is: Why does this happen and can I just safely uncheck “No Paging File” and be done with it without creating problems?
Any help will be appreciated.
