      Keymaster
      @KimKomando

      Heather from Hershey, PA needs to take her MacBook in for repair. But she’s worried about the tech having access to her passwords.

      What you need to do when this happens is:

      1. Password protect your User profile & keychain.Now, you need a Keychain password that’s different from your user password. Open the Keychain Access application, and select your keychain in the drawer. Select Edit: Change Password For Keychain keychain name, and then enter a new password

      2. Create a secondary admin account for the technician to verify their fix. We have Maintenance accounts.

      If a malicious technician resets your user profile password, this will not change your keychain password.

      They would effectively have no access, the best bet for security is to back up with Time Machine and perform a clean reinstall of OSX
