Hi. I want to downgrade my ‘Icloud’ Apple storage. I just want the basics with Apple.
( infact I would like to get off Apple entirely, but I am taking things step by step.I have apple products.
I had , with a promo from Kim, ‘I drive’ , but when I checked with the company they said they do not save ‘notes’ or ‘contacts’ from my Mac.
I don’t think they save ‘mail’, even.
Apple mail.It seems to me that they only save my documents and photos. I need much more . I asked their customer service and they said I could manually download things to I drive but I was not able to do that.
I need more from a cloud service. I drive seems good, but how do I save EVERYTHING on my Mac to I drive?

Hello alimagoo,
You will want to take advantage of iDrive’s entire machine backup solution.
This will backup everything on your computer, including notes, bookmarks, etc. Essentially you could take this backup image and restore it to another computer if necessary.

Thank you so much, John.
My question is, will it back up my apps from my I pad. I think they are located on my computer on I cloud, but I have no idea!
Thank you so much for your kindness!

I asked all my questions to I drive support. I thought it may be good to share at this forum so everyone can benefit.
I numbered my questions.
I will post a second post in this thread with their answers#1…I understand I can do an ‘entire machine back up’ of my Mac including the operating system, which is older but serves me well.

I drive responded that they do not do entire machine backups for Macs. Only for Windows.
Also, apps and other items from apple need to be cloned and uploaded to I drive through windows.
I think people should know these things

iDrive will backup everything on your computer, so if you have created a recent backup of your iPad using iTunes, then yes, you would also have an iPad backup.
If you are trying to get away from iCloud I would not rely on backing up the iPad to iCloud, only manual backups to your computer would be manageable at this point.

Hello Alimagoo,
Sorry about the misinformation, iDrive does not support “Entire System Backup” on a Mac. You can get software from EaseUS that will make a System image and back it up to an external Hard Disk Drive. At this point, you can use iDrive to back up the system image from your External Hard Drive.
I hope that helps!
Apple Devices > backed up to iTunes > system > System image on External > iDrive cloud.
