  • What do I do when I want to use a TV without cable

Posted by RJean on July 10, 2021 at 11:45 am

I discovered my TV has only an HDMI end on both ends of my power cord . I’m changing from Frontier to Spectrum , only not this TV (Sony). Now I have no way to use the TV because of this power cord. Suggestions?

RJean, can you send us the model number of your TV you intend to use? The power cord should plug into the wall outlet and there should be a few options for getting the signal to your TV via HDMI or other inputs. Is Spectrum providing any equipment or just the cable via coax?

This TV I want to use with an antenna , not cable. The only power cord (after cable guy was gone), was the HDMI cord. The PC is here so the Router, etc. are here. I hope this is enough info.

    Hello RJean,

If the only cable you have is an HDMI cable you are missing your power cable / AC adapter as illustrated here in your manual.

Regarding which antenna to use, any run-of-the-mill HD antenna will suffice, you can click here for a recommendation from Amazon.

The HD antenna requires its own power and is connected to the TV via the Coaxial connection on the back. How to connect to the tv is illustrated in Figure A on the manual I shared above.

If you are indeed missing your AC adapter for your tv, you can get a replacement here.
